UP CM felicitates international chess player Anshu Kumar Pathak

UP CM Yogi Adityanath said that Anshu Kumar Pathak would make the country proud in coming years.

AGRA: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath felicitated international chess player Anshu Kumar Pathak from Aligarh at a ceremony in Lucknow on Friday. Calling him a “rising talent,” the CM said Anshu would make the country proud in the coming years. Anshu recently won a silver medal at the 12th National Amateur Chess Championship, organised by the All India Chess Federation in Bihar, where players from 28 states competed. Scoring 7.5 points in nine rounds of the under-1700 category, he became the only player from UP to secure a medal and has now qualified for the World Chess Championship in Serbia. Congratulating him, Devendra, son of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, expressed confidence that Anshu would bring glory to the nation. UP sports director R.P. Singh, AICF vice-president and UP Chess Association general secretary Anil Kumar Raizada, and All India Swadeshi Sports Association general secretary A.K. Saxena also extended their wishes. Social worker Jagdish Pathak, Anshu’s elder brother, said it was a proud moment for Aligarh. “Being honoured by the CM will boost his confidence and motivate him to work harder,” he added.
