A woman constable, Priyanka Yadav, posted at Bangarmau police station in Unnao, died in a road accident on Chhoti Diwali while returning from duty. Her motorcycle lost control near Jamaluddinpur village, causing her fatal injuries.
As a mark of respect, all festive programmes scheduled at the Police Lines on Diwali were cancelled.
A wave of grief swept through the Unnao police department after a woman constable, Priyanka Yadav, lost her life in a tragic road accident on Chhoti Diwali on Saturday. The 2013-batch constable, posted at Bangarmau police station, met with the fatal accident while returning from duty.
According to police officials, Priyanka had gone to the district hospital to escort a woman for medical examination. On her way back, as she was riding a pillion on a motorcycle, the vehicle lost control near Jamaluddinpur village in the Safipur police station area and hit a road divider. Priyanka fell off and sustained severe injuries. She was rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Priyanka, a native of Mau district, was known among her colleagues for her dedication and calm demeanour. Her untimely death on the eve of Diwali cast a pall of sorrow over the police department.
At the Unnao Police Lines, Priyanka was given a guard of honour as senior officers, colleagues, and family members bid her a tearful farewell. Superintendent of Police Jay Prakash Singh expressed deep grief over the loss, saying, “We have lost a sincere and hardworking officer. In this hour of sorrow, the entire Uttar Pradesh Police stands with her family.”
As a mark of respect, all festive programmes scheduled at the Police Lines on Diwali were cancelled.
