A bizarre case has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh where a man allegedly abandoned his wife and six-year-old son and eloped with his girlfriend after receiving hefty compensation for land acquired by the government.

The incident took place in Imliya village of Jhansi and came to light after the woman approached the police seeking help to trace her husband.

According to Ruchi Parihar, her father-in-law received nearly Rs 1 crore in compensation after the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority acquired his five-acre land. The amount was later divided among his three sons, with her husband, Nilesh, receiving around Rs 25 lakh.

Ruchi alleged that the sudden inflow of money brought a drastic change in Nilesh’s behaviour.

She claimed that Nilesh, who earlier lived a normal family life, gradually became involved with another woman from the same village and started distancing himself from his family.

The situation escalated recently when Nilesh allegedly abandoned his wife and child and eloped with the woman.

Left without financial support, Ruchi has now moved to her parental home. She said she is deeply worried about the future of her six-year-old son.

Ruchi has appealed to the police to trace her husband, ensure justice for her, and protect her child’s rights.

Police have registered a complaint and launched an investigation. Officials said efforts are underway to trace Nilesh and the woman he is alleged to have fled with.
