 Man beaten to death by relatives over affair in Unnao village; sister-in-law arrested, others at large

KANPUR: Gangaram, his wife Baleshwari, brother Kamlesh, and sister-in-law Neelam tied Narendra, alias Lala (35), to a pillar and beat him to death on Thursday afternoon in Badaura village of Unnao district over allegations of an affair.Neighbours tried to intervene as the four attacked Narendra with sticks and rods at the spot where animals are usually tied, but he fell unconscious within minutes. His family and police arrived shortly afterwards, and he was rushed to CHC Bichhiya in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.Narendra, who worked in a private job, lived in Badaura village with his wife and children. Tensions had been mounting between him and his brother-in-law Gangaram over allegations that he was having an affair with Gangaram’s wife, Baleshwari. The relatives allegedly lured him to their house under the pretext of a discussion before carrying out the assault.Achalganj Police Station in-charge Rajesh Pathak said a case has been registered under serious sections against Gangaram, Baleshwari, Kamlesh, and Neelam. "Neelam has been arrested, and the others are being searched for," he added.
