A tractor-trolley driver died in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district on Sunday after his vehicle went out of control and overturned into a deep roadside pit, causing heavy timber logs to fall on him.
According to information, victim Rajendra Singh was transporting poplar wood loaded on his tractor-trolley towards Najibabad when he lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and fell into a deep pit.
The trolley overturned during the incident, and the heavy wooden logs it was carrying fell directly onto Rajendra Singh, leaving him with no chance of survival. He died on the spot.
Upon receiving information, Nahtaur Station House Officer Ravindra Pratap Singh reached the spot with a police team and led the rescue operation. With the help of local villagers, the team removed the heavy logs one by one. After prolonged efforts, they managed to retrieve the driver’s body from beneath the timber.
The deceased, Rajendra Singh, is survived by three daughters and two sons.
Police sent the body for post-mortem after completing legal formalities. SHO Ravindra Pratap Singh said that prima facie, the accident appears to have occurred due to the vehicle going out of control. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation.
