A man in UP's Bijnor allegedly consumed a poison along with his two young children following a dispute with his wife, leading to the death of all three and triggering panic in the family.

According to the family, the victim, Baburam, had been facing marital discord for some time. His wife had been staying at her parents' home and returned to the village on Friday after attending her brother’s wedding function. Soon after, arguments reportedly broke out between the couple.

On Saturday, Baburam left home with his children saying he was taking them for a haircut. Later, both children died under suspicious circumstances. As Baburam’s condition deteriorated, locals rushed him to a private hospital where he died during treatment around 4 pm. Doctors informed the police that all three had consumed a poisonous substance.

Family members alleged that Baburam’s wife may have forced the children and him to consume poison, though police have not confirmed this claim. Officers said they are investigating all angles.

Following the deaths, CO Chandpur Desh Deepak reached the spot and spoke to the family. SP Rural Dr Prakash Singh also visited the village and reviewed the situation. Police said the children’s bodies were taken away by relatives for the last rites, while Baburam’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

SP Rural Dr Prakash Singh said the incident appears to have stemmed from a family dispute. He added that further legal action will be taken after the post-mortem report is received. Police are also questioning Baburam’s wife as part of the investigation.
