A woman was stabbed to death using a screwdriver allegedly by her boyfriend in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad, the police said.

The body of a woman who had gone missing last week was found with 30 stab wounds and injuries to her private parts in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad. The body of the victim, Saira, was discovered on Sunday morning in a maize field by her mother, the officials said.

She was stabbed with a screwdriver allegedly by her boyfriend, Rafi, who was later arrested.

The police said that both of them were in a relationship and had indulged in an argument, leading to sour relations between them.

The woman, 20, had arranged for some people to thrash her boyfriend. The man brought a screwdriver and other weapons with him on Saturday. After Saira did not return home from the fields, her mother went out in search of her and found the body near a temple in the village, Mainather, the next morning.

As she screamed at the sight of the barbaric attack on her daughter, the locals rushed to the spot and informed the police.

“We were informed by villagers that a body was found in the fields. In our initial investigation, we found that it was a woman from the village who had gone to cut grass around 5 pm on Saturday. We are in regular contact with her family and looking into all possible reasons behind her death," a police official said.

The body of the victim was recovered from a field that belonged to an individual named Jabbar.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
