UP woman strangles husband to death after dispute, daughters' role under lens

Police have arrested a woman for allegedly strangling her husband to death, with her two daughters suspected of assisting her in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur. The incident occurred in Mundia Khurd village under Bilaspur police station. While the deceased's wife has been sent to jail, authorities are still investigating the daughters' role.

According to police, the alleged murder followed repeated family disputes, mainly over the husband's restrictions and objections regarding his wife and daughters' activities. The matter surfaced after the deceased's brother Joginder filed a complaint, prompting a formal investigation.

Complainant Joginder stated, "My brother had five children, two of whom are adult daughters. When my brother tried to stop and reason with them, they did not listen. On one occasion, a phone was found with them, and he scolded them. Both daughters and his wife assaulted him and took him away while thrashing him. The villagers tried to intervene and calm them, following which everyone went home".

Joginder further alleged that the next morning, he saw his brother's hands and feet tied and a rope around his stomach. "The entire village and police saw this. We filed an application, but no action was taken."

Following the incident, police conducted a post-mortem, which confirmed death by strangulation. The accused woman was arrested and reportedly confessed to her crime. However, the daughters' alleged involvement in the crime is still under investigation.

"The wife and both daughters were involved. We filed an FIR, and after the cremation, the whole village approached the police, but our pleas fell on deaf ears. His wife has been arrested. My brother's name was Vijendra," Joginder said in his complaint.

Anurag Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Rampur, said, "The death of a man was reported, and a post-mortem was conducted, which revealed death by strangulation. During the investigation, his brother submitted a complaint stating that the murder was committed by the wife and two daughters. The wife was arrested and confessed to killing her husband, after which she was sent to jail."

Authorities are continuing their investigation, focusing on verifying the daughters' involvement. Police have not yet disclosed whether the daughters have been formally charged.

When asked about the motive, Anurag Singh stated, "The investigation is ongoing regarding the daughters' role, but so far it appears there have been frequent disputes between the wife, daughters, and the victim. There was a major altercation two days before the man's death, which appears to be connected".

The police also said that arguments were fuelled by restrictions the husband imposed on the movements and activities of his wife and daughters. Further facts will emerge as the investigation continues.
