Woman buys Rs 95,000 medicine for just Rs 800 in India, '$1000 vs $25'

Imagine you live in a country where visiting a hospital is not a decision you take lightly and quickly. Because one visit may have you emptying your entire pockets even for the smallest of check-ups.

That's the case when it comes to American healthcare. As much as the country likes to boast about its supreme lifestyle, in reality, the citizens suffer from problems like expensive healthcare, unaffordable housing and an ignorant administration. Amidst this, an American woman's revelation has the internet shocked and enraged.Victoria took to Instagram to call the US healthcare system a "scam" after she purchased a medication worth $1,000 in America for only $25 in India.

In her now viral video, she shared that her insurance company declined to cover her necessary medication, resulting in a prohibitively expensive out-of-pocket expense. Not willing to spend the fortune on a pack of six pills, she was advised by her doctor to approach a Canadian pharmacy that would order the medicine directly from an Indian manufacturer. Even then, Victoria was expecting a bill of $100 or $200. "So my doctor was like, send the script to Canadian Pharmacy.

Did that, asked how much it would be, expecting maybe like $100 or $200, which I was ready to pay for," she said. However, she was surprised when the pharmacy only asked for $25, $10 for the medication itself and $15 for the shipping. "They were like $25. $10 for the medication itself, $15 for the shipping. International shipping direct from the manufacturer in India to me."Victoria claimed that common people in America were being 'completely scammed' by the healthcare system.

She also questioned where the extra money went. "Our healthcare system in the U S is a joke. We are being completely scammed. What do you mean this was going to cost a thousand dollars? And I was able to pay $10 for the medication itself," she said. "What was I paying $1,000 for in the US? Who is that money going to? That is a hypothetical question.

You all get my point."

Internet agrees with Victoria

As the video gained traction, numerous viewers agreed with Victoria's views and highlighted how the American healthcare system exploited its patients.

They also praised the healthcare system in India, calling it affordable and timely."American healthcare industry is one of the most OVERPAID sector in the world. When the salaries in healthcare are extremely sky-high, there is an obvious inflation of services and supplements too," wrote a user."Because govt wants to fill the pockets of billionaires" added another."When I visited India a few years ago, I got my blood work done at 7am by a Healthcare worker who visited me, got the reports by 9am, doctor's appointment at 10am, followup multiple scans at 2pm, scan results came back at 3pm, followup doctor's phone appointment at 4pm, and medication delivered at 5pm at my doorstep. All this cost me 3000 rupees (~$30)" shared an Indian-American X user."India supplies 60% of the world's medicine. It is known as the pharmacy of the world, the price is cheap when there are no middlemen involved" one revealed."Only country where getting the flu can ruin you financially," another quipped.
