US-Iran War Live Updates Today: U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Saturday that Washington honoured the preliminary agreement with Iran, but stressed that “violence will be met with violence”. The remarks came after the U.S. forces launched retaliatory strikes on Iran in response to its attack on a commercial ship that was passing the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on Saturday said it targeted U.S. military positions in the region in retaliation for the strikes by Washington, according to Reuters.

In a post on ‘X’, Vance wrote: “Iran signed a ceasefire agreement. We have honored it. If they have disagreements about how the MOU is being applied, they can pick up the phone.”

“But violence will be met with violence”, he added.

Israel, Lebanon, U.S. Sign Agreement

Israel, Lebanon and the United States signed a trilateral framework agreement on Friday, after days of talks aimed at ending the fighting against Iran-backed Hezbollah in Beirut.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the agreement as an “important and essential” first step. “Today we’ve taken the first step in what will be a difficult journey, without a doubt, but an important and an essential and a necessary one,” he said.

“It’s the beginning of the beginning. There’s a lot of work ahead,” he wrote.
