Israeli forces also struck Hezbollah sites in Lebanon, where eight people were killed. Lebanon was dragged into the conflict on Monday, when Iran-backed Hezbollah attacked Israel in retaliation for the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Over 1,230 people have died in Iran since the start of the war. In Lebanon, over 70 people have been killed, about a dozen in Israel have died, and six U.S. troops have also been killed.
Situation In The Gulf
In Dubai, UAE, residents on Friday received ‘missile threat’ alert on their mobile phones. The U.S. Embassy in Kuwait shut down amid Iranian strikes on the Gulf nation. The war in the region broke out last Saturday, following the coordinated U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.
In response, Tehran launched a series of missile and drone attacks, targeting the Gulf nations hosting the U.S. and Israeli facilities.
Trump Signals Interest In Appointing Iran’s Next Leader
U.S. President Donald Trump signaled his interest in appointing Iran’s next Supreme Leader. Speaking to American news website Axios, Trump rejected Mojtaba Khamenei, a front-runner to replace his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“I have to be involved in the appointment, like with Delcy in Venezuela”, Trump said, adding, “We want someone who will bring harmony and peace to Iran,” Trump said.
