'US Not At War With Iran, Targeting Only Its Nuclear Ambitions': JD Vance

US Vice President JD Vance on Sunday said that the United States is not at war with Iran, but is targeting what he described as the “threat posed by its nuclear program," following American airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear sites.

Speaking in an interview with NBC, Vance stated, “The United States is not at war with Iran… We are at war with its nuclear ambitions."

The US Vice President went on to say that the strikes, which targeted Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz, had significantly set back Iran’s nuclear programme.

“We believe we have destroyed Iran’s nuclear program… The US has pushed Iran’s nuclear program back by a very long time," he added.

In a separate social media post on X, the Vice President praised the military operation and defended the president’s national security team, amid reports of internal division.

“The operation last night is an incredible testament to American pilots and other service members, from General Caine and General Kurilla on down," Vance wrote.

“While the media has attacked the president’s senior team relentlessly, and tried to sow fake division, last night would have been impossible without perfect coordination and discretion from the president’s national security team. I’m incredibly proud of them, and I know the president is, too," he added.

The US strikes were launched as the war between Iran and Israel entered its tenth day.
