Pak PM meets Donald Trump on the sidelines of UNGA
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met US President Donald Trump on Tuesday on the sidelines of UNGA in New York.Pak PM was invited in a meeting of the Arab Islamic leaders hosted by US President Donald Trump and Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
The meeting was attended by leaders of Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, the UAE and Jordan.According to a statement by Pakistan’s foreign office on X, "Informal exchange followed the dialogue between President Trump and leaders of eight Islamic-Arab countries, including Pakistan." Shehbaz Sharif led the Pakistani delegation to the high-level segment UNGA, accompanied by his foreign minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
The meeting was aimed at exploring diplomatic, political and humanitarian options for de-escalating the conflict in Gaza.Trump called the meeting with Arab leaders “most important meeting” of the day. The talks focused on pathways to a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and long-term stability in the region. Trump said, “This is my most important meeting. I've had important meetings. This is the one that's very important to me, because we're going to end something that you have probably never started.
We want to end the war in Gaza. We are going to end it. Maybe we can end it right now", reported IANS.US President Donald Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, first time since his return to the Oval Office. During his speech, Trump again claimed he had ended seven wars in seven months, including the conflict between India and Pakistan.
