The US State Department announced that it is suspending the issuance of all visitor visas for individuals from Gaza while it conducts a review of its procedures. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the US State Department said the pause will allow for “a full and thorough review of the process and procedures used to issue a small number of temporary medical-humanitarian visas in recent days."

The move comes after the US granted a limited number of such visas for individuals from Gaza seeking temporary entry for humanitarian and medical reasons. The US State Department did not specify the number of visas affected or the reasons prompting the review.
