The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Maheshwaram Zone, along with Balapur Police, arrested two men hailing from Uttar Pradesh for the possesion of five country-made firearms and eighteen live rounds on Thursday morning.
The accused, identified as Mohammed Zeeshan and Mohammed Ameer, had been living and working in Hyderabad’s Santosh Nagar area, said the Commissioner of Rachakonda police, G. Sudheer Babu. “Zeeshan, who owns multiple hair salons in Rakshapuram, Golconda, and Balapur, allegedly turned to arms dealing to supplement his income and keep up with his expensive habits,” said the officer.
He allegedly contacted a local associate, Arshi Khan, back in Rampur, who sourced the firearms from illicit manufacturers. “Zeeshan then roped in Ameer, his employee and friend, to help sell the weapons in Hyderabad through underground channels,” explained the Commissioner.
The two were intercepted at Royal Colony in Balapur while they were en route to hide the weapons at their salon. Acting on a tip-off, the police team seized five weapons, thirteen 8 mm live rounds, five 12-gauge shotgun shells, and two mobile phones from them.
