Vindhyachal Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh will now be known as Vindhyachal Dham Railway Station. The renaming comes ahead of the completion of the Vindhya Corridor project, a key initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The state government has directed several departments, including the Survey of India (SOI), Railway ministry (MoR), Postal department, and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), to make the necessary updates. The Directorate of Printing and Stationery (DPS) in Prayagraj has been instructed to publish the notification in the Uttar Pradesh Gazette.

According to officials, the new name is already in use on station signboards, platforms, and documents. The move fulfils a long-standing demand of local residents, who wanted the station to reflect the religious significance of the temple town.

Vindhyachal is home to the temple of goddess Vindhyavasini, one of the country’s major centres of faith. Devotees from across India visit the shrine, especially during Navratri. Authorities noted that the new name highlights the cultural and spiritual identity of the region.

Along with the renaming, Vindhyachal Dham Railway Station is undergoing major redevelopment. Waiting halls, ticket counters, and platforms are being modernised, and new facilities are being added to manage the growing number of passengers.

Meanwhile, the Vindhya Corridor project is in its final phase. The project is designed to improve access to the temple with wider pathways, better crowd management, and upgraded infrastructure. Once complete, it is expected to further increase the number of pilgrims arriving by train.

The corridor is in its final stages, and the government has assured that all development work at the station will be finished in time for the formal launch.
