Panaji: The Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) has invited bids for the rejuvenation and development of the Valvonti river stretch near the office of the Sanquelim Municipal Council, as part of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0.The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 5.7 crore, aims to transform the riverfront into a landscaped and recreational space. The scope of work includes a promenade with landscaping and overall beautification of the site.According to the tender documents, the contractor will be required to complete the work within 12 months, excluding the monsoon season. In addition to construction, the agency has mandated an operation and maintenance period of five years, ensuring that the riverfront continues to remain functional and well-maintained after the completion.The project also sets out strict financial conditions for contractors. An earnest money deposit of Rs 11.5 lakh has been prescribed, while the successful bidder will be required to provide 10% of the tendered value as a security deposit—split into 5% as performance guarantee and 5% as security deposit. The validity of the tender has been fixed at 90 days.Officials said the rejuvenation is expected to not only improve the aesthetics of the riverfront but also enhance public amenities in Sanquelim town. “The river is central to the identity of the town. This project will help create a cleaner, greener and more vibrant riverfront that can be enjoyed by residents and tourists,” said a senior GSUDA official.
