Vandalism of Ambedkar statue sparks protest in Ghaziabad, suspects detained

Unidentified persons vandalised a statue of B.R. Ambedkar in Loni in Ghaziabad, triggering a sit-in protest that led to traffic disruption on the Delhi-Saharanpur Highway on Sunday (April 19, 2026), police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said several suspects have been detained for questioning in connection with the incident that occurred late Saturday night (April 18, 2026) near Indrapuri Colony.
