Chinmayi Sripaada shuts down troll with fiery response; Defends Rahul Ravindran's stand with grace

Singer Chinmayi Sripaada fiercely defended her husband Rahul Ravindran's comments on the mangalsutra and shut down a troll who brought up her past sexual harassment allegations. She asserted that such personal attacks are unacceptable and contribute to India's negative reputation. Chinmayi continues to be a vocal advocate for women's safety despite facing professional challenges.

Singer Chinmayi Sripaada keeps herself active on social media, and she made headlines again. This time, she has given a fitting response to a troll who made derogatory comments targeting her. Chinmayi Sripaada, who had made sexual harassment allegations against lyricist Vairamuthu in 2018, was mocked by someone on X (formerly Twitter). She wrote, “You could not save yourselves, but now you are speaking for women.”

Chinmayi responded harshly, saying, “You should vanish like a ghost into thin air.”

Debate sparks from Rahul Ravindran’s mangalsutra comment

The incident began when Chinmayi's husband, director Rahul Ravindran, said in an interview that wearing a mangalsutra after the wedding is the choice of women, and there is no equivalent symbol for men. When some people misinterpreted this and attacked it on social media, Chinmayi supported her husband, “If men are so angry, I really worry about women,” she replied.

Instead, a user posted a derogatory comment, which sparked a debate.

Chinmayi lashes out with a powerful reply

In response to the troll post, Chinmayi said, "Yes, it was my fault for touching me, wasn't it? Why do men like you keep bringing up my sexual harassment story over and over again? Don't code it for any meaningless discussion. Just mix it in the air, then I can breathe clean air," she replied sternly. The troll then asked Chinmayi Sripaada why they call India the ‘rape capital’.

To which Chinmayi replied, “Why did you start talking about my sexual abuse? Every country issues travel warnings to women in India.

It is because of people like you that this country has become the 'rape capital'," she replied.

Chinmayi stands strong despite past challenges

Chinmayi had accused Vairamuthu of sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement in 2018. Following that, more than 20 women came forward with similar allegations. Chinmayi was expelled from the dubbing union for speaking out against Radha Ravi. However, she continues to speak out in support of women who have been victims of sexual violence. Chinmayi, who married Rahul Ravindran in 2014, is currently a mother to twin children Driptah and Sharvas.
