In a scathing attack, Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has called for the dissolution of the Devaswom boards. He made the demand in an editorial published in Yoganadam, the mouthpiece of the SNDP Yogam.
"All five Devaswom boards are mired in corruption and looting. The Sabarimala gold heist controversy has put both the government and the Devaswom boards in crisis," the article says.
Mr. Natesan said it was only due to the intervention of the Kerala High Court that the Travancore Devaswom Board and other boards continue to function as they do now. He demanded that the entire system be dismantled and replaced with a new administrative structure, entrusting responsibilities to civil service officers while also including politicians.
The SNDP Yogam general secretary suggested that the number of Devaswom boards be reduced to a maximum of two. He also demanded that a separate Minister be appointed solely for Devaswom affairs.
