Jesús Montero, the former catcher for the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners, has tragically died at the age of 35. The Venezuelan star suffered a severe motorcycle accident in Valencia, Venezuela, on October 4, 2025.

Reports say a pickup truck hit him, leaving him with critical injuries. Despite receiving emergency care and undergoing surgeries, Montero passed away two weeks later. Known for his powerful batting and athleticism, Montero showed promise early in his career, earning praise from coaches and fans alike. After leaving Major League Baseball in 2015, Montero continued playing in the Venezuelan Winter League until the 2020–21 season, keeping close ties to Venezuelan baseball.
