Veteran actress Girija Lokesh adopts 10 senior artists, Takes charge of their medical expenses

Veteran Kannada actress Girija Lokesh has once again demonstrated compassion and social responsibility by extending support to struggling members of the film fraternity. In a heartwarming initiative, the senior artist has taken full responsibility for the medical expenses of 10 financially distressed senior artists, offering them much-needed relief in their later years. With a career spanning over four decades, Girija Lokesh has established herself not only as a respected figure in Kannada cinema but also as a humanitarian. Speaking about her initiative, she highlighted the challenges faced by aging artists, particularly those who lack financial stability and access to healthcare. Clarifying the nature of her support, she explained that “adopting” these artists does not involve providing shelter, but ensuring their medical needs are taken care of.

She emphasized the importance of healthcare in old age, noting that while basic food may sustain life, access to medicines is crucial for survival. The actress revealed that her initiative is inspired by the vision of her late husband, actor Lokesh. She described her efforts as a continuation of his dream to support fellow artists who are in need. Girija Lokesh also called upon the film industry to stand together and support its members.

She suggested that if every artist takes responsibility for at least one struggling colleague, it could significantly improve many lives within the fraternity.
