Victor Osimhen Nearing A Permanent Move To Galatasaray? Noted Absent From Napoli Training

Osimhen missed Napoli's pre-season training amid advanced talks for a move to Galatasaray. Despite his success in Turkey, new coach Antonio Conte doesn't see him in Napoli's plans.

Victor Osimhen was notably absent as Napoli resumed pre-season training on Monday, with the Nigerian striker reportedly in advanced negotiations for a permanent move to Turkish champions Galatasaray.

In an official statement, Napoli confirmed the squad’s return to training:

“The players met at the training centre for medical examinations and physical tests. Victor Osimhen was absent and provided a medical certificate."

Galatasaray Move on the Horizon

Osimhen, a crucial figure in Napoli’s 2023 Serie A title win, spent the previous season on loan at Galatasaray, where he excelled with 26 goals in 30 league appearances, helping the Istanbul giants clinch their 25th Super Lig title.

Despite his prolific form in Turkey, it appears new Napoli head coach Antonio Conte does not see the 26-year-old forward in his plans for the upcoming Scudetto defence. However, Napoli have made it clear they won’t let Osimhen leave for anything less than €75 million ($87.5 million).

Negotiations between the two clubs have been ongoing for several weeks, but the deal remains stalled, with disagreements over payment structures continuing to delay an agreement.

New Faces, Familiar Absences

Meanwhile, Napoli’s new signing, Kevin De Bruyne, recently acquired from Manchester City, was also absent from Monday’s session. The 34-year-old Belgian midfielder was not among the players reporting for initial medicals and testing.

As Napoli prepare for a new season under Conte, the futures of key players like Osimhen—and how swiftly the club can integrate new signings—will be pivotal to their hopes of reclaiming the Serie A title.
