Ten people were injured when a passenger bus travelling from Durgapur to Kolkata lost control and crashed into the guardrail of the Nivedita Bridge in Howrah district of West Bengal on Monday. The impact threw several people out of the bus, leading to severe injuries.
The incident occurred at around 12.40 pm on Monday on the Bally-Dunlop flank of the bridge. The CCTV footage of the incident has been captured, showing how the bus lost control and skidded on the bridge before coming to a stop after hitting the guardrail.
The injured were rushed to a local hospital where they are presently undergoing treatment. Following the accident, officials from the Bally police station and Bally traffic guard arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control.
The police also quickly arranged for another bus to transport the unhurt passengers to their destination. An investigation is being conducted to ascertain the cause of the accident.
