A passenger at Indore airport slapped one of the accused in the high-profile Raja Raghuvanshi murder case while they were being escorted by Meghalaya Police.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred as a 12-member Meghalaya Police team was entering the airport with four accused — Raj Kushwah, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi. A passenger, waiting nearby with his luggage, suddenly slapped one of them.

As all four accused were wearing face masks, it was unclear who among them was attacked. A video capturing the moment soon went viral on social media.

Indore's Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotia confirmed that the Meghalaya Police team left for Shillong with the accused after securing their transit custody from a local court.

The investigation also revealed that Sonam, the prime accused and wife of the deceased, visited Indore after the murder. “We have received information that Sonam came to Indore from Meghalaya, and stayed in a rented flat in the Dewas Naka area between May 25 and 27. However, Meghalaya Police will be able to give detailed information about this,” said an official.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Police team searched the house of accused Vishal Chauhan in Indore. Assistant Commissioner of Police Poonamchandra Yadav said, “Based on information given by Chauhan, the pants and shirts he was wearing at the time of Raghuvanshi's murder were seized from his house.”

“Meghalaya Police will send these clothes to the forensic science laboratory to find out whether there are blood stains on them,” he added.

According to the Meghalaya Police, Raja Raghuvanshi, a 29-year-old transport businessman from Madhya Pradesh, was murdered on May 23 while on his honeymoon. His wife Sonam (25) allegedly plotted the murder with the help of her lover Raj Kushwah (20), who, along with three accomplices, was called to execute the killing.
