Vijay-AIADMK Alliance On Cards? DMK Downplays Actor's Impact In 2026 Polls, BJP Keeps Option Open

As the political mercury in Tamil Nadu is rising ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has hinted towards a possible tie-up with actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

AIADMK MLA and senior leader Kadambur Raju on Wednesday indicated that Vijay’s TVK may join the party’s alliance in the future as they share a common goal of removing the ruling DMK from power in Tamil Nadu.

“This is an anti-people government. They came to power by giving false poll promises. They are acting against the interests of the people of Tamil Nadu," Kadambur Raju said.

TVK-AIADMK-BJP Alliance In Tamil Nadu?

The AIADMK leader added that Vijay also echoes the same sentiment, and there is nothing wrong with that. “In future, if the situation arises, when the alliance is confirmed next January, there is nothing to be surprised about like-minded parties joining the alliance," Raju remarked.

Regarding a potential TVK-AIADMK-BJP alliance, Raju expressed a desire for TVK to join forces with them. He emphasised that all parties aiming to defeat the DMK should collaborate and hoped that TVK would consider this option, noting that in politics, anything is possible.

BJP On Alliance With TVK In Tamil Nadu

Reacting to the alliance speculations, BJP’s Narayanan Tirupathi stated that the party hopes that Vijay considers the option and join the AIADMK-BJP alliance for the upcoming Tamil Nadu polls, scheduled to take place next year.

“We want TVK to join us on board. If we want DMK to lose elections, we should join hands, We hope TVK considers," the BJP leader said.

DMK Reacts

Responding to the speculations, DMK leader Saravanan told CNN-News 18 that the AIADMK appeared uncertain about its electoral strategy.

“The ADMK is clueless. Nobody from their party is even talking in favour of its alliance with the BJP. BJP is a liability in the state of Tamil Nadu," he added.
