Vikram Chatterjee turns producer with dark action-comedy series

Actor Vikram Chatterjee has moved into production with his debut Bengali web series Taarkata, marking the first project under his banner VC Films, helmed by Samik Roy Choudhury. It a dark action-comedy with revenge at its core.

The storyline follows a former police officer who returns to his hometown under unclear circumstances and becomes entangled in the investigation of a death that appears linked to his own past.

The narrative combines action elements with black humour, set against a small-town Bengali backdrop. Chatterjee plays the lead role, portraying a volatile and morally ambiguous character. The part required a change in appearance, including longer hair, a beard and a leaner build.

The ensemble cast includes Meiyang Chang, Priyanka Sarkar, filmmaker-actor Srijit Mukherji, along with Satyam Bhattacharya, Ayush Das and Sushmita Roy. The show’s launch adds to the growing slate of regional original content on OTT platforms, particularly within the crime and dark-comedy genres. It also reflects a broader trend of Bengali actors exploring roles beyond performance, including production and content development for digital audiences.The show is set to release on Bangla Zee 5.
