Vineet, you’ve just announced something quite unique — a double blues album. Can you tell us more about the Punjabi Blues Album?Vineet Singh Hukmani: Yes, I’m very excited to share this project. It’s a two-part album — Delta Blues Revival in English and Kyon? Punjabi Blues. Both are original collections, recorded in a very old-school way: entirely analog, on 8-track spools, with no computers involved.

In today’s digital era, why did you decide to record using analog methods?Vineet Singh Hukmani: I wanted to return to the raw, unfiltered essence of the blues. Analog recording has this warmth and imperfection that make the music feel more human and alive. Instead of chasing digital polish, we focused on being authentic and creative. You’ve collaborated with American blues musician Ruffus Cotton on this. How did that come about?Vineet Singh Hukmani: Ruffus Cotton is a highly respected but reclusive blues teacher and guitarist from Jackson, Mississippi.
He and his band helped me tap into the true Delta blues sound. His guidance was invaluable in helping me express myself fully in this genre. Why did you decide to create a Punjabi blues album in addition to the English one?Vineet Singh Hukmani: While I was writing and recording the English songs, I had this realization — why not bring this magic into my own roots? That thought gave birth to Kyon? Punjabi Blues. It’s the first time I’ve expressed myself in Punjabi through music, and doing so in the blues genre felt both fresh and deeply meaningful.
Tell us about the songs themselves. What can listeners expect?Vineet Singh Hukmani:Delta Blues Revival features 12 original English songs that pay homage to the gritty, emotional spirit of Mississippi blues. Kyon? Punjabi Blues includes 7 original tracks, blending the roots of Delta blues with the expressive rhythm and poetry of Punjabi. Together, they’re both a tribute and a bold new direction. You’ve always been known for breaking boundaries in music. How does this fit into your journey?Vineet Singh Hukmani: My career has always been about pushing limits — from having nine #1 hits on the European Indie Top 100, to being the first Asian to enter the US Radio Top 100 Rock Charts, to creating multi-sensory projects like Nine, and my jazz/traditional pop album Enigma. This double blues album is another milestone — reviving tradition in an analog way in a world increasingly driven by digital and AI.Where can people hear the album?Vineet Singh Hukmani: It releases on all major streaming platforms on November 7, 2025. For those who love collectibles, vinyl editions will be released in select countries later. Ruffus Cotton: Honestly, I never imagined I’d be part of a blues project with a musician from India. But Vineet learned “the blues way” with sincerity and put real soul into it. Hearing him sing the blues in English — and then in Punjabi — was a revelation. I’m honoured to have been part of
