Vishnuvardhan’s Kannada classic ‘Yajamana’ set to return to theatres to celebrate 25 years of legendary actor’s legacy

It is a milestone moment for Kannada cinema lovers as ‘Yajmana’, the timeless blockbuster completes 25 years. It is set to screened at theatres again on November 7. The film, cherished for the legendary late actor Vishnuvardhan’s unforgettable presence, where he played the dual role. Fans who once queued up outside theatres will relive the nostalgia, and a younger audience will finally witness this legacy film in its full glory

Reviving a legend on the big screen

This revival is a heartfelt passion project. Muniswamy, who spearheaded the restoration, expressed pure admiration for the late superstar.

Summarizing his intention, he explained that he brought the film back out of love using today’s technology and urged fans to experience it in theatres again. As he said, “Out of love for Dr. Vishnuvardhan, I wanted to bring ‘Yajamana’ back using today’s technology… I request every fan to experience it on the big screen.

”TThe restored edition will release in more than 150 theatres on November 7.

Celebration screening with cast and crew

A special gathering was held with the film’s team to honour this cinematic return.

Producers, technicians, and cast members reunited to share memories and pride. Rehman reflected on the film’s victorious run and monumental numbers, calling it a tribute to its star and creators. His emotional recall included the note that “This film owes its success to Dr. Vishnuvardhan and K.V. Nagesh Kumar… Yajamana ran for 25 weeks… celebrated 100 days… and collected ₹35 crores back then.

About ‘Yajamana'

Directed by Radha Bharathi and R. Sheshadri the movie tells the story of Shankar, the older brother who sacrifices his own life to educate and support his three younger brothers. Along with Dr. Vishnuvardhan in a dual role, the movie also stars Prema, Shashikumar, Abhijith, Ramesh Bhat, and Tennis Krishna.
