Vizianagaram SP seeks people’s cooperation to control drinking in public places

Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal sought the people’s cooperation in controlling alcohol consumption in public places as it might lead to nuisance and spread the bad habit among others. He urged them to inform the police personnel in nearby police stations if they found persons indulging in ‘open drinking’ in their areas. with the directive form Mr.Jindal, the police have started using drones to identify the persons who are consuming alcohol in open areas of Phoolbagh, Kanapaka, Ayyannapeta and other areas. It was observed that many youngsters are selecting outskirt location for the consumption of alcohol to avoid the attention of the police and locals. However, the police are using drones and grabbing footage to identify them.

“Open drinking will lead to fear among the locals particularly women and girls. A majority of the persons indulging in consumption in public places may be anti social elements. That is why, we are asking all Station House Officers to learn operation of drones which would enable them to identify law violators very quickly. The drones are helping us to identify the persons playing cards in groves, parks and public places”,“ said Mr.Vakul Jindal while speaking to The Hindu.. The police department have booked around 15,5000 cases between July 2024 and June second week of 2025.
