Wall painter killed in drunken brawl

A 45-year-old wall painter was bludgeoned to death allegedly by his friend over a trivial row at his house in Begur police station limits on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Devendra Singh from U.P. living in a rented accommodation in Raghavendra Layout here for the last three years.

The accused, identified as Mewa Singh, a friend of the deceased from his home town, had come to the city to work. The duo on Sunday had argument over a trivial row and Mewa Singh allegedly attacked Devendra with a club and escaped. A severe blow on the head rendered Devendra to collapse on the ground and die of excessive bleeding.

Neighbours hearing the commotion rushed to his help and shifted him to a hospital where the doctor declared him as brought dead. The Begur police based on the information from the hospital have registered a case of murder and efforts are on to track down the accused .
