In a post shared on Instagram by Hum Sub, the organisers wrote, “This year’s Hum Sub Diwali event was truly a celebration of togetherness and cultural pride!” They called the mayors’ participation the “highlight of the evening” as they joined the talented performers of the Taal Harmony Dance Group.

The video shows both mayors dancing in perfect sync, matching steps to Bollywood beats with infectious energy. Their cheerful expressions and lively moves drew loud cheers from the crowd, spreading a wave of joy across the venue.

The organisers added that the spirited participation of the mayors “symbolised more than just a dance – it showcased how our local leaders are embracing and celebrating the rich diversity that makes our Triangle area so special.” They further wrote, “Moments like these remind us that Diwali’s true light shines brightest when we celebrate as one community – beyond borders and backgrounds.”Through their collaboration with Taal Harmony Dance Group, the mayors helped spotlight “the beauty of Indian traditions, rhythms, and community spirit right in the heart of North Carolina,” the organisers said.
