An elated Carlos Alcaraz shared his triumphant moment at the Roland-Garros on Sunday, 8 June, with a group of delighted ball kids, who joined the tennis ace in lifting the iconic trophy. In a viral clip, Alcaraz won the hearts of fans after allowing the children to touch his French Open trophy. The jubilant 20-year-old made an amusing slow-motion entrance towards the podium, creating a lasting memory for the children after the final in Paris.

Fans celebrated Alcaraz‘s joyous trophy-lifting moment with the French ball kids, flooding the TNT Sports clip’s comment section with heartfelt remarks. “Legend at 20 years old! Well deserved, Juan Carlos Ferrero and team!!!" one user exclaimed, while another commented: “Hahaha, so much joy! Love the French ball kids! They’re the best!"

Alcaraz secured his first French Open title with a remarkable comeback victory against Jannik Sinner in the longest final in Roland-Garros history in the Open Era. The stunning fightback saw the young star rally from two sets down to defeat Sinner 4-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (10-2), saving three match points.

This victory marked Alcaraz’s second Grand Slam title in as many final appearances. It was the Spaniard’s fifth overall victory against Sinner and marked a significant milestone, making Alcaraz the third youngest player to win two Grand Slam titles, after Bjorn Borg and Rafael Nadal. Borg achieved this feat at 21, while Nadal won his second at 22.

At 5 hours and 29 minutes, the Alcaraz-Sinner Roland-Garros final surpassed the previous longest men’s final record of 4 hours and 42 minutes, set by Mats Wilander and Guillermo Vilas in 1982.

Alcaraz saved three crucial match points in his remarkable win, recovering from 3-5, 0-40 down in the fourth set. He became only the third man in the Open Era to save at least one championship point en route to a Grand Slam victory, joining Gaston Gaudio at the 2004 French Open and Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon in 2019.
