Watch: Chief Justice gets teary-eyed recalling his father's dream, struggles

In an emotional speech at the Nagpur District Court Bar Association, Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai became emotional and teary-eyed as he recalled giving up his dream of becoming an architect to fulfil his father’s unfulfilled wish of practising law. He spoke of his father's sacrifices, his dedication to Ambedkar's ideology and the hardships his mother and aunt faced while raising him. Gavai shared that while his father always believed he would one day become Chief Justice of India, he sadly passed away in 2015 and could not witness the moment, but he was grateful his mother was there to see it.
