'He's better than him but...' - Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. picks Lamine Yamal over his father but with a caveat

Lamine Yamal and Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the biggest names in world football, is in the twilight years of his career. The Portuguese superstar turned 40 this February and signed a contract extension with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr less than a month ago.

With the forward committed to the Saudi side and still being the focal point of Portugal's attack, there is no doubt that he is ready for the upcoming season.

In a video that recently went viral, the No. 7’s son, Cristiano Jr, made a surprising claim, much to the shock of fans around the globe. The viral video features the 15-year-old in conversation with Twitch streamer 2xRaKai, where he said, "Right now, yeah. Okay, but Lamine (Yamal) hasn't won anything yet."

Cristiano Jr.'s response came after the streamer claimed that Yamal is far better than his father at the moment. However, the fact remains that the Portuguese veteran got the upper hand over Yamal in their most recent meeting, where Portugal beat Spain 5-3 on penalties after drawing the game 2-2. Ronaldo also managed to score to bring his side level in normal time. Adding to his claim, Cristiano Jr said that Yamal is yet to win "anything."

“Lamine’s really good, but he still hasn’t won anything,” said the teenager. The Barcelona star, who recently turned 18, has actually won several titles with the club, including multiple league crowns and a domestic cup. Most recently, Yamal won the 2024/25 La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup. At the age of 17 (his birthday was two days before the final), Yamal also won UEFA Euro 2024 with Spain, scoring once and assisting four times in the tournament. The player has also come under fire for reportedly hiring people with dwarfism as entertainers for his 18th birthday party. ADEE, the Association of People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias in Spain, has vowed to take legal and social action against the player. However, one of the entertainers who was hired for the party told RAC1, "No one disrespected us, let us work in peace. I don't understand why there's so much hype.

" Yamal has returned to Barcelona for pre-season ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
