The US military on Thursday released visuals showing sailors aboard a naval helicopter guiding a merchant vessel away as part of its ongoing blockade operations targeting Iran’s ports and coastline.

The video, shared by US Central Command (CENTCOM), includes audio from a sailor aboard USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112), with footage from the destroyer’s helicopter flying over the Gulf of Oman. It shows US forces directing a commercial vessel while enforcing restrictions on ships entering or leaving Iranian ports.

Large-Scale Blockade Underway

In a post on X, CENTCOM said the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group is operating in the Arabian Sea as part of the broader effort. It clarified that US forces are not blockading the Strait of Hormuz, but are focused on restricting maritime access to Iranian ports and coastal areas.

According to the statement, the operation involves more than 10,000 US service members, over a dozen naval vessels and more than 100 aircraft deployed across the region.

US Says Blockade Will Continue

CENTCOM said US forces are actively enforcing the blockade to ensure compliance with directives issued by President Donald Trump, adding that no vessels are being allowed to violate the restrictions.

Officials also indicated that the operation is open-ended, with forces prepared to sustain the blockade for as long as required.

The development comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with the US increasing its military presence and stepping up maritime operations as part of broader efforts to pressure Iran.
