For hockey, Gretzky didn't select himself. He instead selected two older players: Bobby Orr and Gordie Howe. They were the most significant and skilled players ever to play, according to Gretzky.

Orr was fast and scored the famous flying goal in the 1970 Stanley Cup Final. Howe was a player for more than 30 years, and known for his toughness, skill and power.
