WBCAP 2025: The registration window for WBCAP 2025 has officially opened for undergraduate (UG) admissions in West Bengal. Eligible students seeking admission to UG programmes across government and private colleges in the state can now apply online by visiting the official website — wbcap.in.The West Bengal Department of Higher Education launched the Centralised Admission Portal (WBCAP) recently, enabling prospective applicants to submit their forms without any application fee. The online registration process is active and will remain open until 1 July. Candidates are advised to complete the application process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute delays.Application open for over 460 collegesThe WBCAP 2025 process covers admissions to UG programmes in 460 state-run and private colleges affiliated with 17 public universities across West Bengal.

Candidates may apply for a maximum of 25 different programmes or courses offered by one or more institutions through a single application.The portal allows applicants to choose preferred colleges and courses using a search feature, where they can explore available options and set their choices accordingly. However, several institutions and programmes are excluded from the WBCAP system. These include Presidency University, Jadavpur University, engineering, pharmacy, medical, and nursing colleges, autonomous institutions, law universities, training colleges, private/self-financing colleges, minority institutions, and colleges offering fine arts, performing arts, dance, crafts, and music.

Important dates and admission roundsFollowing the closure of the application window on 1 July, the merit list and the first round of seat allotments will be published on 5 July. Admitted candidates must complete the admission process between 5 July and 12 July. A further round of seat allotments for programme upgrades will be announced on 17 July, followed by the final admission window from 17 July to 20 July.Physical verification of documents at the allotted colleges is scheduled to take place between 24 July and 31 July.

Classes for the new academic session will begin on 1 August.Who is eligible to apply for WBCAP 2025Any student who has passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination from a recognised board or council is eligible to apply through the WBCAP 2025 portal. However, universities may have specific limitations on the year of passing, which applicants must verify before applying.
