Sridhar Vembu, Chief Scientist, Zoho Corporation said small experiments and initiatives and the ability to learn from failures should be the hallmark of India’s march towards self-reliance here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the 40th convocation of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), he said that the talent pool in India was enough to develop technology indigenously in the march towards self-reliance. He said his company did not play the blame game, rather, it picked up lessons from failures. The ability to incorporate lessons and stay in the game for the long haul opened up possibilities. Giving examples of Zoho’s email platform and medical equipment division, he said the company took its time before it started shipping out products and even had to scale down operations to get things right. “All these were possible because we don’t play the blame game. Instead, we thoughtlet’s see what we can learn.”
During the convocation, 1,871 graduates were honoured, including 21 PhDs, 786 PGs, and 1,084 UGs. V.R. Venkatachalam, Chancellor, SRIHER, and R.V. Sengutuvan, Pro-Chancellor, were present.
