West Bengal Governor R.N. Ravi on Wednesday (June 10, 2026) distributed portfolios to the newly elected ministers of the State government. While Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will keep the Department of Home and Hill Affairs, Information and Cultural Affairs and Power along with other departments.
Swapan Dasgupta, the BJP MLA from Rashbehari, will hold charge of the State Finance Department, and veteran politician Tapas Roy has been given the charge of the Department of Industries and Power. Sharadwat Mukherjee will hold the portfolio of the Department of Health and Family Welfare. Dr. Mukherjee is a medical practitioner.
Journalist turned politician Jagannath Chattopadhyay will hold charge of the Department of Higher Education and technical education, while Dipak Barman will hold charge of the Department of School Education. Arjun Singh has been assigned the charge of the Labour and Transport Department. Sankar Ghosh will be in-charge of the Department of Parliament Affairs and Tourism, and Manoj Kumar Ghosh will be in charge of the Department of Forest and Environment. Dudh Kumar Mondal, an MLA from Birbhum, has been allocated the charge of the State’s Agriculture department.
Five ministers who were sworn in along with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on May 9 continue to hold the portfolios that were allocated to them. 35 ministers, including 13 Cabinet Ministers, were administered the oath on June 1 and were allocated portfolios on Wednesday (June 10, 2026). Three MLAs were sworn in as ministers with independent charge, while 19 MLAs have been assigned responsibility of ministers of state.
The West Bengal Council of Ministers has 41 ministers, including Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. There are about 54 departments in the West Bengal government.
