An interstate drug supplier from West Bengal was arrested in Hyderabad on Friday with 50 grams of amphetamine, a banned stimulant drug. Acting on a tip-off, the Commissioner’s Task Force (East Zone) along with the Chilkalguda police apprehended the suspect near Line Bazar Masjid.

The accused, identified as Rajikul Hoque, 21, a native of Subedar Tola village in Malda district, West Bengal, was found in possession of the drug and a mobile phone. The total seizure is estimated to be worth ₹7.6 lakh.

Hoque had earlier worked as a mason in Hyderabad but returned to his hometown due to financial problems. While looking for ways to support his family, he came in contact with one Mojibur Mistri of Mojampur, also in Malda, who is reportedly a known drug dealer and is currently absconding.

Mojibur is said to have convinced Hoque to enter the drug trade, promising high profits. Hoque then procured 50 grams of amphetamine and travelled back to Hyderabad to sell the substance to local users. However, before he could make any deals, he was intercepted by the police team.
