West Bengal mason murdered in Puri by co-worker

Puri: A 35-year-old tiles mason from West Bengal was allegedly beaten to death with a hammer by his co-worker here late on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Nora Alam, a native of Midnapore.According to Penthakata marine police, Alam had been working in the Puri for the past one-and-a-half years and had been engaged at the present site for three months. He is said to have had frequent arguments with a fellow labourer, Musharraf, over work-related issues.Police said the altercation escalated on Tuesday night when Musharraf allegedly attacked Alam with a hammer, killing him on the spot. Another labourer, Sheikh Firdaus, who was sleeping nearby, informed police and claimed Musharraf fled the spot after threatening him with a knife.Firdaus told investigators that the fight broke out over an audio recording that Musharraf allegedly wanted Alam to delete. Teams from marine police and Talabania police station reached the spot and launched a joint inquiry. Efforts are on to trace the accused.
