The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has lifted the suspensions of Olympic medalist Aman Sehrawat and junior wrestler Neha Sangwan, who were previously barred for being overweight at international championships in 2023.

The decision allows both athletes to participate in the upcoming Pro Wrestling League auction.Aman faced suspension after being overweight at the World Championships in Zagreb this September, while Neha was disciplined following her disqualification from the Junior Worlds in Samokov in August. The WFI issued show-cause notices to both wrestlers - Aman on September 22 and Neha on August 25. They submitted their responses on September 28 and September 18 respectively.

Coaches from the Zagreb event also received notices. In their written responses, both athletes acknowledged this as their first violation and promised to prevent such incidents in the future. The WFI Disciplinary Committee met on November 13 to review their cases. Considering their strong international performance records, the committee recommended leniency.WFI president Sanjay Kumar Singh subsequently ordered the lifting of their suspensions, permitting them to compete in all future events.

"Any repeat offence relating to weight-management or discipline would attract stricter disciplinary action," the federation warned. The wrestlers will now be eligible to participate in the upcoming edition of the Pro Wrestling League, marking their return to competitive wrestling.
