Riley Gaines and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got into a very heated fight on X after AOC told her to “get a real job.” Riley fired back saying she is a mother and called motherhood the “most important and rewarding job in the world.
” This online clash started on October 27 after Riley posted a photo of AOC at a rally and said America is being destroyed from within. AOC responded by mocking Riley’s 2022 NCAA swimming result against transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.

Riley Gaines, a former Kentucky college swimmer and a strong voice against transgender women in female sports, was quick to respond to AOC. She said she already has a real job, being a mom.
She told AOC that if she had a baby girl, she would understand better.Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had brought up Riley’s 2022 NCAA Championship race where she tied with Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer who won first place. AOC hinted Riley was angry because she had finished fifth. Riley replied saying people always support women’s rights until it is about real women’s sports.
Riley then wrote:“Keep your mentally ill men out of our sports, locker rooms, prisons,” and also called AOC a “misogynistic dunce” online.
She reminded everyone she was the fifth-fastest woman in the nation, not an average swimmer.Riley Gaines is married to swimmer Louis Barker and became a mother earlier this month.
Riley Gaines joins Tennessee Library Board amid growing national spotlight
Just a week before this feud, Riley Gaines was officially appointed to the Sumner County Library Board in Tennessee. The board recently passed a new policy banning books that include transgender topics.
