Deepika Padukone’s Mehendi ceremony was a beautiful and intimate celebration held in Lake Como, Italy. She looked stunning, but what truly made the event special were the emotional and personal moments.
Adding to the charm was Veena Nagda, Bollywood’s most famous Mehendi artist, who helped make Deepika’s bridal dream come true with her incredible work.
Deepika’s special bond
What made the moment even more special was the bond between Deepika and Veena. Years before the wedding, the actress had seen Veena’s beautiful Mehendi work during a film shoot and promised to book her for her own wedding.
Deepika kept her promise
When her wedding to Ranveer Singh was being planned, she personally called Veena Nagda and had her flown to Lake Como, Italy, for the Mehendi ceremony.
Veena spent five full days creating beautiful henna designs for Deepika and her family members.Talking about the experience, Veena recalled how the cold Italian weather made the task more difficult than usual. She even wondered if Deepika would be able to sit through the long hours required for such detailed work. But she patiently endured it all, showing just how committed she was to having Veena as a part of her special day.
Ranveer Singh’s warm presence
Veena fondly recalled that the entire atmosphere, “The sun came out, and he really lit up the room. He was joking and laughing with everyone, and he addressed me personally while I was doing Deepika’s mehendi."
The heart touching moment
Veena recalled a touching moment during the ceremony when Ranveer acknowledged her work with a thoughtful remark. His kind words, comparing her to royalty while she adorned Deepika, left a lasting impression on her.
It was a simple gesture. He requested Veena to create a special Mehendi design for him, one that held deep emotional significance. On his palm, he had the word “Deep” inscribed, a touching tribute to his bride-to-be. To make it even more meaningful, he asked for three stars to be added — each symbolizing an important woman in his life: Deepika, his mother, and his sister.
A wedding that celebrated love and heritage
Ranveer and Deepika tied the knot in an intimate, two-day celebration on November 14 and 15, 2018.
Their wedding beautifully reflected both their cultural backgrounds, with a traditional Konkani ceremony to honour Deepika’s roots, followed by a Sindhi ceremony in tribute to Ranveer’s heritage.Surrounded by close family and friends, the couple exchanged vows at the enchanting Villa Del Balbianello, a picturesque 18th-century estate overlooking the serene waters of Lake Como.
