When is Kartik Purnima 2025? Know Date, Timings and Significance

According to the Hindu Calendar, Kartik Purnima is celebrated on Full Moon that falls in the month of Kartik. This is one of the most sacred days in Hinduism. Though Purnima falls every month but this will happen in the month of Kartik and Kartik month is also an extremely auspicious month dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu.

Kartik Purnima 2025: Significance

Kartik Purnima is one of the most significant day in Hindu religion which is purely dedicated to honor Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Lord Vishnu took a Matsya form on the same day and according to the Hindu Scriptures, on Kartik Purnima, Lord Shiva slew the demon Tripurasura, who had terrorized both the heavens and the earth.

On the day of Kartik Purnima, Dev Deepawali, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Ganga snan, Deepdan, Pushkar mela is also celebrated with great grandeur and happiness.

The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. Many devotees visit various Ganga Ghats such as Haridwar, Varanasi, Rishikesh and others to perform Deep Daan.

Kartik Purnima 2025: Puja Rituals

People take a holy bath after waking up early. To worship Lord Vishnu and light a diya in front of the idol, clean the house and go to the temple. To take a sacred plunge in the Ganga River, many devotees travel to the Ganga Ghats in Haridwar, Varanasi, Rishikesh and other sacred places. People engage in a variety of religious and spiritual practices, including satyanarayan vrat, hawan, yagya, charity, donations, and fasting.

It is seen to be a good day to pray to Lord Vishnu. On this auspicious day, devotees ignite lamps and diyas. Devotees are required to present Arghya as part of their puja to the Moon God.
