Karisma Kapoor, known for films like 'Raja Hindustani', 'Dil To Pagal Hai', 'Biwi No.1' and 'Coolie No.1', has long been admired for her screen presence and effortless dancing, making her a fan favourite across generations.
In an old episode of The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show, she recalled an interesting anecdote from the shooting of the song 'Yaara O Yaara' from the film 'Jeet'.
What Karisma Kapoor said about shooting ‘Yaara O Yaara’
During the show, Kapil Sharma asked her about working with Sunny Deol on the popular track. Karisma remembered how new she was to the industry at the time. She said, “I was new to the industry at that time. This was in 1994 or 1995. For the first time, we were shooting a song with
Yash
ji in Switzerland.”She then shared a moment that left a lasting impression on her. “The next day, I woke up at 5 am and the song started playing. I came to the balcony and looked down, and Sunny sir was busy rehearsing.”Curious and surprised, she went up to him. “I came downstairs and said, ‘Sir, I’m a newcomer. Why are you rehearsing?’ Sunny said, ‘No, no, I want to dance with you, I’ll rehearse.’” Karisma added with a smile that once the song was shot, “He looked cute in it.”
Her take on 90s and 2000s film culture
When Kapil asked whether actors in the past ever accepted or rejected films just by hearing the title, Karisma answered candidly. “Sir, that’s how it used to be in the 90s and 2000s. You know how we used to work back then? Sometimes there wasn’t even a script.”She also spoke about the fast-paced nature of shoots during that era. “And songs used to be shot in a single day, right? Working with Chi Chi Bhaiya (Govinda), we would finish a song in one day. Sometimes a song was shot in just one shot!”

Salman Khan
