The relationship between Lord Surya and Hanuman is one of the most inspiring examples of devotion, discipline, and the search for knowledge in all of Hindu mythology. Hanuman is known as a great devotee of Lord Rama, but not many people know that Surya, the Sun God, was his teacher and helped him grow in both his mind and spirit.
Hanuman's search for knowledge
Old texts say that Hanuman was very strong and had godlike powers when he was a child. His parents and other smart people, on the other hand, told him that being great isn't just about having power. It also comes from being smart and knowing things.Hanuman went to see Lord Surya, the god of light who makes the world bright, to look for the best teacher in the whole world. At first, Surya, who rides his heavenly chariot across the sky all the time, said he couldn't stop to teach even for a second.
Hanuman had a great idea for how to learn. He started flying next to the Sun, facing Surya and moving backwards across the sky. He paid close attention to everything he learned. Surya took him on as a student because he was so dedicated.
What we can learn from the Sun God
Hanuman learned how to speak well, read and write, learn the four Vedas, the six Vedangas, grammar, and the scriptures from Surya. Surya taught more than just schoolwork; he taught important things about life as well.
Hanuman learned from the Sun God that even though he was very strong, he should be humble. He said that it is very important to have self-control, discipline, and the responsibility that comes with knowing things. Surya also told Hanuman that the real power comes from doing the right thing and standing up for what is right. These lessons made Hanuman a smart and kind warrior who later played a big part in the Ramayana.
A gift and a promise to the guru
Hanuman asked Surya what he could give him as a present when he got out of school.
Hanuman asked Surya to help and keep his son Sugriva safe.Hanuman kept his word and was a good friend and minister to Sugriva. This connection helped Hanuman meet Lord Rama and fight Ravana later on.
A sign of hard work and dedication
People who believe in Surya and Hanuman still feel something when they hear their story. It tells you to respect your teacher, work hard to learn, and use your strength for good.Hanuman's journey shows us that even the strongest beings must bow to knowledge. This is a lesson for a lot of people who want to get closer to God. It also shows us that the only way to really become enlightened is to be humble, disciplined, and devoted.
