Suhasini Maniratnam, who is the niece of Kamal Haasan, once shared a rare story about Kamal and how she used to feel embarrassed by him during her college days. She moved to Chennai at the age of 12 for her studies and lived with Kamal.

In 2018, while appearing on an episode of Weekend with Stars on Zee Tamil, Suhasini revealed that she initially tried to keep her relationship with Kamal under wraps. However, Kamal once came to shoot near her college, and everyone came to know about their relationship.

She refused to visit the location when her friends asked her to, but they were so excited to see Kamal that they insisted Suhasini accompany them. The song ‘Nee Kettal Naan Maatenendra Solven Kanna’, where Kamal is seen smoking, was being shot at the location.“After going there, I was standing at the back, and then Kamal shouts, ‘Aye!’ and calls me by a name. Shall I tell you that name? ‘Chu Chu, come here,’ he said. I was so embarrassed,” she shared.

Suhasini reveals Kamal Haasan's mischievous behaviourSuhasini also recounted how Kamal would insist on dropping her off at college in his car—but while dressed in his short attire for practising karate. “There would be a special outfit for karate. There would be no trousers. He used to practise karate at home, only wearing his underpants. He would say that he had bought a new car and would drop me at college in it. I used to beg him, saying, ‘Please wear trousers.

Or, at least wear shorts.

’ And he would say, ‘Chu Chu, I won’t get out of the car. I’m a big star; I can’t be seen outside a ladies’ college.’”Despite his promise to stay in the car, Kamal would inevitably step out—leading to more embarrassment for young Suhasini. “That’s it!
