When 'terrified' Mahesh Babu starred with his father Krishna Ghattamaneni in 'Poratam' as child actor; followed dad's footstep

Superstar Mahesh Babu is the son of the legendary actor Krishna Ghattamaneni. Walking down the same path as his father, Mahesh has become one of the biggest stars of Tollywood. Let's go back to some earlier years, when the 'SSMB29' actor was just a kid and worked as a child actor alongside his father in the 1983 film 'Poratam'.

First screen appearance

Mahesh Babu went on to make his big-screen debut as a cameo in the 1979 film 'Needa' as a child actor. We stumble upon several social media posts that reveal four years later, the actor had accompanied his father on the sets of the film 'Poratam', where the director of the film, Kodi Ramakrishna, saw him and suggested that his father, Krishna Ghattamaneni, make him play the role of the protagonist's brother. At the first time of asking Mahesh Babu was terrified, however, he went ahead with it after he was persuaded by his father and other members.

The movie after its release, went on to become a blockbuster success.

Gautam Ghattamaneni follows his father's footsteps

Interestingly, Mahesh Babu's son Gautam Ghattamaneni began his journey as a child actor with his debut in the 2014 Telugu psychological thriller '1: Nenokkadine.' In that film, he played the younger version of the lead character, Gautham, portrayed by his father. Gautam's early exposure to the film industry allowed him to showcase his acting abilities from a young age, just like his father.

Gautam is currently pursuing a four-year integrated drama and performing arts course at the prestigious New York University Tisch School of the Arts.

Mahesh Babu's upcoming film

On the work front, Mahesh Babu is currently working on one of the biggest films of his career with the ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli. The movie is touted to be an adventure action thriller and is tentatively named 'SSMB29'. The actor will be sharing screen with Priyanka Chopra and Prithiviraj Sukumar in key roles.
